Goat Milk Formula
Organic Goat Milk Formula
Goat’s milk formula has become one of the fastest-growing choices in Europe, and the reason is digestion. Goat milk is naturally A2, the same protein type found in breast milk, and it forms softer, smaller curds in the stomach than cow’s milk does. If you are looking for a gentler feed with clean, simple ingredients, this is the collection to browse — organic recipes from Holle, HiPP, Jovie and more, in every stage from birth to toddler.
Why parents choose organic goat milk formula
Naturally A2 protein. Most cow’s milk contains a mix of A1 and A2 beta-casein. Goat’s milk is naturally A2 — the same protein structure as human breast milk. Some parents find A2 milk sits more comfortably with their baby.
Softer curds. When goat milk meets stomach acid it forms looser, finer curds than cow’s milk, which many babies process more quickly and comfortably.
Shorter-chain fats. Goat milk contains a higher proportion of short- and medium-chain fatty acids, which are absorbed more readily.
Naturally occurring oligosaccharides. Goat milk contains more of these prebiotic carbohydrates than cow’s milk, supporting the gut bacteria that a developing digestive system relies on.
A note on what goat formula is not: it is not a hypoallergenic formula. Goat and cow milk proteins are structurally similar enough that a baby with a diagnosed cow’s milk protein allergy can react to both. Goat formula also contains lactose, so it is unsuitable for lactose intolerance. If allergy is the issue, see hypoallergenic formula and speak to your pediatrician.
EU organic standards for goat milk
The EU applies the same organic rules to goat herds as to dairy cattle: organic feed, mandated outdoor access, no growth hormones, no GMOs, restricted antibiotic use and annual inspection. At least 95% of agricultural ingredients must be organic.
Holle’s goat range carries Demeter biodynamic certification on several stages — the strictest organic standard in the world, requiring the farm to operate as a closed, self-sustaining system.
Note that not every goat formula on the market is organic. Nannycare, for example, is not organic-certified but is free from palm oil, maltodextrin, soy and GMOs. We label the certification on every product page so you can see exactly what you are buying.

Which goat formula should I choose?
- Newborn, want the simplest recipe: a lactose-only Stage PRE or Stage 1.
- Avoiding palm oil: look for whole-milk recipes, which usually skip it.
- Baby wakes hungry overnight: a Stage 2 with organic starch may hold them longer.
- Want the strictest organic certification: the Demeter-certified stages.
- Toddler over 12 months: Stage 3 or 4 growing-up milk.
